so the old war rages on..brocolli bases versus slotta..well we have done both I will admit but now we have something a bit different..peg feet with optional base ..works right out of the pack on the base it comes with or ready to mount on a base without all the chopping..see the pics below.http://www.easternfrontstudios.com/uploads/basesofelfandgolem.jpg

Revelation minis does this too. Seems like a good idea.

Vince very cool I think so also, I would like to have a dollar for every gripe i've seen on brocolli bases..
Ritual yeah nothing more aggrivating them chopping off a huge base..ive sliced my thumb more then a few times with a razor saw or x-acto..the thing is most companies want the cast in one shot casting but I think the more options we provide the better the public likes it..I actually broke a pair of testors snips on one of our bases it was so thick..one of the jaws broke pow and hit me just above my eye..ten wonders I didnt put my eye out ((has a flash back to a Christmas story..you'll shoot youre eye out hehe))

Yep, another good idea. I just hope the pegs line up correctly in the base, otherwise you aint really saving time, having to fill the gaps/filing the pegs etc..

Callumrice I know what you mean on large models its usually a problem.the base distorts or the legs move slightly from vulcanization.

From the consumer point of view, it is much easier for those who want integral bases just to glue the minin to the base than for those who do not want integral bases to remove the base that's cast on.

Gigers I hope the next batch we release it s well liked..i'm sure if it wasn't a pretty good idea you guys would tell me straight up ;)
Vince yeah Ive glued more then a few reaper minis to say similar gw round or square base to simulate their 5FT base, its pretty easy until you get those odd long ones or use the really long ral partha style.
Ritual hehe im tellin ya I would have never thought the metal on the snips would have broke.oddly enuff the metal was very grainy ((im pushing the Titanic weak metal theory here ;) ))

@Mick
You'd be surprised at what crap quality steel is used in tools quite commonly... You usually get what you pay for, but you NEVER get more than what you pay for...

Ritual these I had used for a good while Testors usually makes good stuff so I blame myself really, trying to cut something wayy to thick and these are generally made for plastic kits..a fine cutting grade.. but I recall having purchased my first snips a black and decker and the very first thing I tried to snip was too thick a piece of pinning wire..and sure enuff..a big bite right on the middle of both blades!! so youre right on the quality factor.

Freebooter does it too his way. So you are back at the peg idea again. Or was I the one with the idea at first. Can't remember. I do remember (have the picture still) sculpting the ogress with a peg and seperate base like this (but she got cast with the base attached). Anyway... still think this is a good idea. I do remember the discussion we had about it. With it being an extra part to cast when seperate. Still from a buyers point of view I prefer the pegs.

Cindy I dont recall really dear its possible we discussed it as we chatted alot ;). Massimo and Guillame did the first ones we have this way with deep holes and pegs honestly without me asking lol and then a few months later It dawned on me after reading the threads people were looking for a alternate or seemed the debate had really came up alot.I think most people would prefer almost anything aside a made on base or a variant like this.I just found the ogress and she did have tiny pegs I seem to recall she came in three parts body club and base..and we decided to make her all in 2 parts with the base attached as the rest of the line then was this way.the poor old girl green looks like a partial zombie now with half her right side of her head now gone hair mainly and ear.the rest of her held up really well aside a few toenails on her right foot.
