Hmmm, it may just be me, but I noticed something after a quick browse of the categories. It seemed like there were several instances of the same person submitting multiple entries in the same category. I noticed the Rackham Black Paladins and Kain were in their category for what seemed like 5 or so different submissions, all painted by the same person. There was another case that I can't think of off the top of my head, but if I'm wrong...please ignore my comment.

Yes, that is true, there are several instances of a contestant entering multiple times in the same category.

There doesn't seem to be anything against this in the rules, however, a person can only place ONCE in a category.

Per the rules:

"You are allowed to submit MULTIPLE entries to the contest. As many as you can paint, you can submit though you can only place once per category (you can win in multiple categories, just once per category)"

Does that make sense?

Oh....whoops, I was thinking the rules stated you could only submit one entry per category.

I'm just glad I'm not from Missouri. Not after the spankin' they got this past Saturday from a bunch of good 'ole Nebraska boys.

Anyway, I've only lived in Nebraska for about a year. I spent the first 25-30 years of my life in Illinois.

Don't worry, all the person is doing is hurting their chances of winning anything, because the votes will be spread out between 4 different entries if people vote for them.

If they are doing the "random entry" prizes, it would also give that person an advantage in receiving one of those. Perhaps it's just something that needs to be cleared up in future contests.

Not really, at least on the contests that I have administered.

Having more entries doesn't make you more eligible for random contests. For the random prizes, I've just taken all the names of the painters, put them in a hat, and drew. A painter only gets his/her name in the hat once, despite the number of entries.

However, all that said, I do think it is a bit out of the spirit of the contest to just shoehorn miniatures into a category, just to have more entries, but I'm unsure of how to curb that without penalizing someone who legitimately wants to do multiple entries.

Suggestions are always appreciated...

agree with the Tang, i think it will probably self correct. You can usually tell if similar entries. I dont think its a problem

Well, what about having it be the way I thought it was? Limit people to 1 entry per category.

In all honesty, there are still, what....5 categories? How many people submit more than 5 entries? It might get more people submitting into the less entered categories such as the diorama one if they are wanting to submit more entries.

Ahh - hadn't realized that the random prizes are per painter, not per entry. I don't see much of a problem with it in practice, then, though it does seem strange.

Commented on all the entries, hope to see some more comments from other folks. Now I gotta go vote again, this time on minis.

Good luck everyone!

Yep, I set the polls to 'expire' exactly one week from when I opened them.

Done and done! Voted in all categories and left my thoughts and critiques on every entry! Whew. Best of luck to everyone that entered. I look forward to seeing the results! Thanks to the Wyrd staff for putting this on for the 6th year running and SV for taking the time to moderate the madness of Rotten Harvest!

I'm working on all of the comments, but I don't see the pont in redundancy. It would seem that, on a lot of them, my observations and opinions have alrready been spoken for. However, I would still like to leave a comment on each of every one of them.

supervike

Actually...the polls will not all close at the same time. They all close EXACTLY 7 days from when they were posted, so we're going to have a bit of lag time....

Peterdita
11-08-2010, 05:35 PM
lag time? It's been 7 days and 34 minutes since you opened them.
