Newb question

So, I am new to Malifaux as a whole, but was drawn to Neverborn from the start. I have the Lilith set -- and now Perdita, Sonia, and Lady J sets as well; my Viks crew is on its way too. As one offs I have/have coming: Teddy, Gunslinger, Peacekeeper, Executioner, Doppelganger, Primordial Magic, Enslaved Nephilim, Ronin.

Question: I want to get back towards Neverborn and wondered which might be the "best" crew to consider next -- Pandora or Zoraida? I don't really have a "style" as of yet; guess beatstick is what I am most familiar with as miniature gaming goes. I know there are some great models coming with Book 2 (Black Blood Shaman and Nekima). For now I just want some solid crews to playtest/demo/have-on-hand and I feel I lost track of Neverborn being my main faction.

Also, do you tend to buy all the models of a faction, or stick with a theme such as Nephilim?

Do you have Young Nephilim?

Next month there will be the Dreamers Boxset... that can be a beatstick too...

Pandora and Zoraida arent taht beatsticky... :D

When to choose i´ll tend to Pandi... she is a very hard Master...
Quite the neverbornside of Sonnia... Works with spells an Willpower...

Zoraida is more control... she likes to use the opponents Minions and so on...

As of right now Pandora would be the more useful one, but she is all about forcing WP test, and is not about the beatstick game. Zoradia is going to shine when the dolls come out along with the Hooded Rider.

But then again Lord Chompy Bits is coming next month and his is a beat stick glass cannon. His crew will be like a surgical knife cut off and destroying your opponent's crew with ease. But he will not stand up to an assault without his crew near by.

But right now you need to get some young Nephilim and Waldgiest. They make Lilith's crew shine oh so bright. And if you are going to get another master soon get Pandora's crew since you already have her support minions. (Doppelganger, Primordial Magic, Teddy and the Gunslinger.)

Thank you both for your input. It makes good sense, and I think I was leaning towards Pandora. It will be interesting to see how Zoraida strengthens with the release of the dolls and hooded rider. Personally I am waiting to see more of LCB/Dreamer before committing to them; don't know if I care for their style (glass cannon as you say), but the LCB model is great, and they are Neverborn...

I understand (I think) the use of the Waldgiest with Lilith's forest spell; what makes the young Nephilim shine -- their ability to grow? If so, I guess I need to invest in another Mature Nephilim (or 2) for when they do.

Question: Aside from adding more Nephilim eventually (as the models are released; don't like using proxies), how many mature and young Nephilim do you carry in your crews (extra in your bag; not necessarily in use at the start of the game) -- specifically as models for grow and mature? I have not yet had "time" (or made the proper use of time) in a game to grow any tots or mature any young...

I did pick up two young Nephilim, but have only the three tots and one Mature from the box set.

For a Scrap (one master) game I think having the following list of models available works well. It's kinda nice that the blisters come in the same size (except for Mature Nephilim, but one from the starter box and you can get one more). If you start playing Brawls or really large Scrap games you may need to get more models, but wait until you start running into such situations (I never have).

2 Mature Nephilim (Rare 2 limits you to 2 in Scrap games, 4 in Brawls)

I've not really had a need for 2 Matures during most games. I find they usually don't get that much blood unless your abusing the grow/mature mechanics. Or well maybe if you decide to bring Young.
