So due to Gencon and just general craziness around Wyrd, we're WAY behind on processing Henchman Apps, and they are a bit piled up. I just wanted to post a note to let everyone know that I will be getting to these very shortly, and we'll get ourselves caught up very soon, promise!!!

It's a group of people that are pseudo-official representatives of Wyrd. They're charged with running demos, tournaments, and getting people excited about Malifaux - something that a lot of us do already. :-)

I have a small question about the henchman program myself. Do you have to be linked to a store or can it be a gaming club? We have about 15 people who play in my immediate area and our closest store is atleast 20 minutes away. With roughly half of us not being in possession of a drivers liscense it's become quite tideious to get everyone there.

As far as the henchman application requirement for two crews. Is that 2 crew boxes or two X soulstone playable crews? I have 2 solidly playable crews nicely painted but not the stuff that came in the box for crew two.

@Deadboy: I would imagine that if you have 2 crews built and painted then they would be lenient. After all up until recently some masters had no box set (Levi).

For my own part I can't wait til I get my crews painted so that I can apply for a henchman status - been a busy few months moving house but settled now and painting room/office is ready to go!

I have enough painted models to demo with. My Lilith crew is painted plus an extra couple young neph. My Zoraida crew however has a Doppleganger in place of the Mire Golem. I just didn't care for the model and haven't touched it. I have started the Lady Justice box as a viable second option.

Also, the form doesn't have a place to check off the masters from the new book, so are they even allowed at all, or have you just not updated the form yet?

How long did it take most people to hear back about their Henchman status? I put my app in on Monday. I can hardly wait to hear if I am in. I have a Lilith box and a Pandora box, plus a LCB crew pieced together. I know its all Neverborn but I will be getting one of each faction for demo purposes.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any official rules on it. Just don't let anyone know that Ottumwa is a tiny burg consisting of maybe 20 people, tops. ;-)

Just because you were cloned twice does not mean there are 3 henchmen... I think that still counts as 1!

Well I just got back from running Malifaux at MOAB, to find my henchmanship has been approved!

Are you running the latest version of Acrobat reader. I find that sometimes issues with forms are because of older versions of Adobe.

Doesn´t really answer any of my questions !?

It says I should write the crews I have painted that will be available for demos (and also send pics) but nothing is said about any kind of rules on how they need to be painted.

Maybe it is obvious I could paint Liliths hair black instead of red if I wanted, the store intended for demos only needs to sell similar games and the last date for the application was last summer !?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. On the application you have to have both of your crews painted and attach the pictures to the e-mail when you send the application in.

No. You can paint them however you like.

I'm another patient Henchman-hopeful. I'm very pleased at how much Malifaux has taken off in our local club - our brick and mortar has started regularly stocking blisters, and we're planning for a 2-day tournament next Spring. It's great to see a company like Wyrd have continued success.

What exactly defines "event" on the application? Would that be an official matter with posters and such in the LGS, or would having two of three gaming boards set up in my house and inviting the local gamers to try their hand at Malifaux count too? I'm a member of Wargames Association Cork, or WAC, so it'd be easy to send out a group message and get something like that set up.
Once I paint up my two crews and get some more games under my belt I'm planning to apply.
Are 2 bare bones 25ss crews enough (though I plan on having many more...)?

Quick question to all who know, what is the point requirement on the two crews required for a Henchman application?

Although I have two ready, they are both Neverborn and one is Pandy so want an easier crew for demo's. As a result i'm working on the last of my Ortega's.

I assume two 25pt crews are sufficient?

I just assumed it was two box crews. That gives the player you are demoing for has a good base point to jump in at. Though 25 ss probably isn't a bad choice if you are doing DIY crews. I'm not sure they ever spelled it out.

They are normally processed weekly.

It also depends on how busy things are in the office. And the deadlines that crop up.

I do have a question though. There are 2 other Henchmen in our area, I think. How exactly does the 1 event per month rule work? If I help organize an event in conjunction with another Henchman, does that count, or do we have to do individual events? It's probably not a big deal, since we play every week at the LGS, and have been trying to do some full tournaments here and there. But I'm just curious.

I'm mostly applying as I want to be able to help with a local con in March, and then probably at GenCon in August. :)

You don't just fill out the application and send it off from where it is. You have to save it to your computer because it needs to go into an email as an attachment with the rest of the stuff they need.

If you look through the tournament forum there a lot of tournaments that other people (some non-henchmen) have run in their local stores. I would recommend looking through those for a tournament format that you like and use that. You could also just look through and find one that is close to what you want to do and just modify it to be what you want.

At this point there are no "official" tournament rules that are available.

I hope that you can understand my Henchman Application because of my dyslexia. Reads English well, but it's spelling problem. But on the other hand, I'm a librarian and must fight my way through each day with the spelling.

So im contemplating making the application to become a henchman. There doesnt appear to be one within a good 100 miles and Norfolk is pretty much virgin Malifaux territory. I can commit to demo at the local clubs twice a month and spread word. (have already bough Drake on board and a few others). Have 2 crews that should (bases arriving fingers crossed) be painted by the end of this weekend. Theres not many actual stores in Norfolk though.
So it would be a more converts via gaming clubs approach and with enough interest a few tournies along the way possibly.

Would this be viable enough to warrant a henchman application? And yes i do have the other relevant stuff like experience (ex gw full time staff memer and store intro gamer, etc)

Zee, Eric, Nathan. . . I have a young lady that is interested in becoming a Henchman. She is one of my players, and as there is only one Game Store within 150 miles, would this be allowed?
She really seems to get a lot more attention than I do. . .go figure! Due to her social life; college, job and Roller Derby girl, she cannot do many events solo.

I brought up the fact that I have been waiting for awhile. I see a person who put there app in 3 weeks ago and is now a henchman. Another who had joined in march like me. Hey Eric, I posted my application a couple days back, and I don't really expect much for a while while you guys tackle the crazy workload of GenCon/New releases. However, if we're running demos or tournaments during the period which the application is being considered, will that count for anything once the application is (hopefully) accepted? There are several Henchman from various European Countries already (Spain, Belgium, Sweeden, Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic) so I would say that you should definately send in your application and Pictures.

Do most people use the "Submit" function embedded in the Henchman app? I did ... but I'm honestly not sure if it was sent, if it was received. There wasn't any kind of a confirmation. I then sent a separate email with my photos attached. I wonder if I should have attached the PDF to an email instead.
