I'm currently building and painting a Nicodem crew (http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14167) (slowly!) and having only played one game v's Arcanists, which I won by spamming Mortimers Fresh Meat spell on the Punk Zombies.. Unfortunately it'll be a little while before I buy the rulebook, so I'm a little unknowledgable on what to get

Basically I'm not really sure what add to my starter crew and Vulture (I figured it went with Nicodem) as I want a nice themed crew, but I would like to be competative too and don't want to waste any of my limited funds on stuff I don't need.

Now I know I'll need some Mindless Zombies, but I figure only be buying one pack until there are more sculpts.

So other than Mindless Zombies, what else should I be looking at?

P.S. I guess I'm looking at a 30ss list

Thanks in advance!

A Flesh construct is nice to have. Maybe not for your starting crew but to summon when you get two corpse counters handy.

The Canine Remains are also good for cheap support. They can move quick, do some damage and then die(which means more corpse counters)

Those are probably a good place to start. From there you can expand further. A belle or two can be nice to lure models into your punk Zombies. Bete Noir is a fun option too.

If you really want to get crazy you can start hiring the outcast undead models like the steam punk abominations and the desolation engine.

I really like crooked men with him, you get a whole paralyzing theme going.

You'll also want a second vulture, they die easily so having two gives you more options and covers the board.

Canine remains and necropunks are great when you need to swarm the board, and Nicodem can turn the dead dogs into better zombies quickly.

I like to run some cheap stuff, with one heavy hitter. Two vultures is pretty good, although I always get them killed too fast. I like running a lot of dogs with bete noir or a necropunks with kill joy, then summon my punk zombies with the corpse counters. Either Morty or Sebastien is a good include depending on what you are trying to do.

Personally Nicodem has a pretty good box, so I would play with his starting crew a little bit and see what kind of things you feel like you are missing.

Thanks for the advice guys, seems like the dogs are a good bet, I'll probably get a couple when I next order some more base inserts.

Cheers

Definitely the doggies. Start with four dogs, and summon the punks with their corpses.

Contrary to popular nicodem opinion, I've never liked the vultures. I much prefer going with a hanged with a grave spirit attached, and he becomes an absolutely unkillable model. (armor two, divide all damage by two, seven health and the grave spiritcan channel decay to heal him?)

for a nicely themed graveyard list, i'd pick up a hanged, Mortimer, grave spirit, some dead dogs, the punks and maybe some crooked men.

Unfortunately, nicodem is expensive compared to other masters, though with the crew you've got and some dogs and maybe one more expensive model (bête or hanged) you'll do just fine. Just summon the punks whenever you can and get them into melée.

I would say crooked men (for range attacks) and necropunks for games where you need fast movers ( treasure hunt).

I also, personally love running Killjoy with a nicodem crew.

I'm not a rules genie yet but I've used a vulture/killjoy combo and it works pretty sweet.
Although it worked as a surprise attack once.

Fly the birdie to wherever (it has 10/10), kill it and boom! Killjoy comes in to poop in their punchbowl!

Also it's nice to have some doggies to kill. You can kill a couple 2ss models and get some really nice 5 or 6 ones.
I like the rotten belles( I think that's them). They cost 4ss and have 8WD...that's pretty good for just 4ss.
