So we're in the midst of Halloween night now and having a good time here at the Caroland house. We decorate to the tilt here and probably spend more money than is good for us, but we've turned the house outside into a place where the little ones refuse to come and the larger ones give a pause before ringing the doorbell which screams loudly to get their candy.
Five fog machines, six black lights, huge arch that is a demons face, howling cats and lightning, strobelights and bunches and bunches of things droping on people, popping out of the ground or flying through the air (we spent some time rigging pully systems, bloody handprints on the door, glow in the dark hairspray across the house warning folks as they come through (I really hope that washes off) and to top it off, my Dad (who's birthday it just happens to be today) is sitting in the corner possed as a dummy that we've had standing out there for a month now which we replaced with him tonight and is lunging out and getting the kids.
It's a absolute blast and I'm giggling right now, especially after having to get a big ol' bowl of water and tossing it on my front steps as some girl just $$$$$$$$ed her britches on my steps (swear on it!).
It's fun, and I REALLY wish I hadn't broke my camera at GenCon cause I would love to get pictures this year as I think this is our best year yet. Hrmmm, maybe I'll ask the neighbor in a bit.
Anyhoo, they are knocking again and I see my dad just ran off another couple, off to give some candy.

Sounds great Nathan!
My kids are getting a bit too old for actual trick or treating, but they love giving out candy...
Todays me mum's birthday BTW....

Okay ... now as much as I love scaring the kids, I am sadly, still giggling, at the woman that brought a two year old dressed as a care bear in her arms ... you would think she would know better and pick some 'safer' houses. It was hillarious watching this kid do the crazed carebear crawl over this woman, all completely silent none the less, and just tearing the woman up.
And they didn't even get their candy ...

The scaryest place i ever trick or treated, the fella inside dressed up like Micheal Myers and just stood at the window staring at us......s**t scary that was!

Just got back from taking my daughter out. She only chickened out at one house (they've set up a haunted house in their garage and she refused to go near it because of the spooky noises) and got quite a bit of candy. She went as a half human/half vampire that's decomposing; her idea, not mine. My camera's dead, so I didn't get any pictures, but the make-up turned out nice; pale skin, rotting flesh, open wounds and all that. We both had fun, even though I didn't get dressed up this year.
Frustrated Father (http://wyrd-games.net/member.php?u=1): I want to Trick or Treat at your house!
And happy birthday to those that share it with the best holiday of the year!

I'm still sitting here in my witch outfit after getting back from my daughter's very first trick or treat night (she was dressed as a bumblebee). For a 4 year old, I think she did really well only getting kinda grumpy towards the end. Now, we're here with candy spread across the carpet, while she comes for a piece of it then runs off to her room to giggle at her new hamster.
FF, I hope you were able to find a way to get pictures because the whole set-up sounds AWESOME!
Happy Halloween everyone!

Happy Halloween to one and all :)
The kidlets are coming in fits and starts, not a lot of kids in this older neighborhood, I give it another half hour.
I’m working on our customary Halloween fair.....donuts and apple cider...give me another half hour and I’ll be in a sugar coma.
I hope you find a camera FF, your spooky house sounds awesome! Even when I got too old to trick or treat (and I held on until I was 14!), I still enjoyed walking around the neighbourhood checking out the houses of people like yourself who really get in the spirit. We don't do a lot of decorating currently, partly disorganization and still needing to build up supplies, and partly because even though we doubled our number of trick or treaters this year, it doesn't seem worth too much effort for 4-8 kids each year. :->
Happy Hallowe'en everyone, I'm glad to hear it sounds like everyone is having a great time!
