December Acolyte and Voodoo conduit

Hi guys!

Can an Acolyte be chosen as Voodoo conduit victim if it is still in the shadows? Technically it's not really a direct attack. If yes, can the spells then be cast on him via the conduit although he's still in the shadow?
My good conscience tells me that he should not be able to be picked as a conduit target, but I'm still asking, you never know ^^ :)

It absolutely can.

It can even have spells cast on it through conduit (or any other means) so long as those spells don't generate a ranged attack or charge.

You can cast spells on a December Acolyte as written, he's only immune to ranged attacks and charges.
