View Full Version : Belles on Speed

So lately I have been noticing that my Seamus list can outrun just about any other list By using a few simple tricks
all of these are using Seamus's "Belles of the Ball" to make the belles faster
1. Sybelle walks forward 12" then calls a bell forward 3" (net total 15") usually either just to get a bell forward or to get the belle in base to base with some sort of objective before she even activates(treasure hunt comes to mind)
2. Failing that I can have a belle go first, walk, then lure a model forward Into a more favorable position
3. and most importantly I always keep a belle back as a lifeline for the rest of my army "what was that Seamus is in charge range, not anymore" 2 lures can go a long way.
Now for the Questions:
For the other Seamus players out there; got any other movement tricks/combos you'd like to share? or maybe particularly hilarious stories of Belle shenanigans?
And what if anything can shut down these tricks so I know what to watch out for?

A list I've been taking recently- usually for Assassination and Treasure Hunt and occasionally Recon- involves Seamus with CCK, 2 Belles, Sybelle, 2 Hanged, and 1-4 Canines. I called it the "Will Crusher" list in that I'm able to position myself so that the enemy has a string of debuffs on their Wp skills, use Seamus' Terrifying 14 Aura to confound my foes while I use the Belles to Lure in my choicest targets. This list fails against Constructs and anything else immune to Wp duels, I've found.

Depending on deployments, I have a simple trick for Seamus I like to use. I called it the "slingshot".
Start Seamus and a Belle next to one another. Once you activate Seamus, you use companion on that Belle. Because Seamus has fast, you move him max distance. Now the tricky part is, depending on where you moved him, Belles of the Ball needs to trigger. So then the Belle moves farther than Seamus. Then you use her AP to lure Seamus closer.
It moves those two models pretty far even if it is just those two. The unfortunate part is that they are kinda stuck out in the open with no AP. But then just make sure you catch everyone else up and you'll be ok. You could even leave Seamus with an AP if you wanted to give him a shot or something.

@Zombie Pimp...
I think you may have got Call Belle a bit wrong. You can move Sybell 12" (with Belle of the Ball) you can then cast Call Belle and move the Belle to within 3" of Sybelle. So that's 9" if they started at the same distance. you can then move the belle (her 2 walk AP will be 8" + 9" = 17") Not bad!
But...
If you start Seamus and all the belles (3 from the box let's say) in a tight group you can:
1 - Activate Sybell
2 - Companion all the Belles (Companion Sybelle)
3 - Move Sybelle 12"
4 - Cast Call Bell and push the belle to within 3"
5 - Activate the other two belles and move them 12" where you want them
6 - Activate the pushed belle and cast Lure on Seamus & either cast lure on him again or move the belle 6".
On your second activation you can now activate Seamus or what ever else you have left.
If you want other fast moving models take a couple of Necropunks (Leap)
P.S. Always keep the Copy Cat away from Seamus. Mistaken Identity is good for getting the boss out of trouble.

A push doesn't have to be in a straight line. With Call Belle you could push the Belle all around the table and place her 3" ahead of Sybelle :)

You're right on the money there. I honestlly didn't realise that until about 10 minutes ago when I was posting a similar reply on another forum. But I was actually thinking of having the belle parallel.
I didn't think of 3" ahead of Sybelle. Good call :hippie:

"Belles of the Ball" always scares me - zombies that are faster than an average human :hmmmm:

... almost any non-Romero zombie movie?
28 Days, the Return Series (Sorta, they were basically regular people, until they rotted), almost any B-movie...

ive had the situation where i captured the tresure 1st turn with seamus before. sybelle does her whole walk and have belles move. next belle walks and lures the coppy killer. next belle goes does the same thing. then coppycat goes walks and mestakes in identity with seamus. he walks 1 grabs the treasure and alks again. botta boom 1st turn treasure.

Another little trick to add to my previous post. Usin Sybelle and 3 Belles:
1. Ensure Sybelle and the Belles are all within "Belles of the Ball" range (turn 1)
2. Activate Sybelle and Companion all Belles. Move her forward 12" and Call Belle.
3. Push Belle 3" infront of Sybelle.
4. Activate the other two Belles and move them forward 12".
5. Activate the called Belle...
With this last Belle you can do a few things: a) Move her forward 1wk and lure Sybelle or one of the other Belles, b) Don't move and lure both Belles, c) Move 2xWk... etc.
And another one:
1. As above.
2. Activate a Belle and Companion Sybelle. Move Belle forward 6" and Lure Sybelle.
3. Activate Sybelle and companion the other Belles. Move Sybelle 12" (Lure + 12" = 16" now) then Call Belle.
4. Push Belle 3" in front of Sybelle (This Belle has now been pushed upto a potential 19"),
5. Activate the Belle that's still at the starting line and move her 12"
6. Activate the called Belle and cast lure twice on the other belles or Sybelle.
This is a little harder to pull off and initial placement during deployment is all important in order to ensure that belles are in spell/ability range/s. But if you can do it correctly you can potentialy move 3 out of the 4 up to 23".

Surely you cant use Sybelle to companion the other belles because she doesn't have companion(rotten belle) because it's the belles which have companion(sybelle) surely only they can do the companioning?

It's all a matter of semantics and activation sequence.
P 72. Companion (model) If this model and the companion model are within 6" of one another at the start of either models activation, both models may activate simulaniously. Complete the activating models activation first.
Remember: Abilities are always "switched on".
So, if Sybelle activates within 6" of any Rotten Belle the belles can automaitically companion with her. So in the first example, Sybelle activates and all the belles can Companion with her.
In the second example I didn't explain things well enough. The first bell would activate and Companion Sybell. It would complete it's activation then Sybelle would activate. When Sybele activates the remaining belles can automatically Companion themselves with her.
The game jargon that's built up around this has become known as Chaining. Other factions and crews have a similar trick they can pull off.

It gets even better now with Book 2. Molly gives all Belles an additional *2 to WK and she can cast a spell that gives a model +3 WK. Seamus' speed shenanigans get crazier :D

I know you can make the Belles VERY quick, but I am wondering why you'd want to? I mean, territory control strategies and the treasure hunt lead to obvious conclusions, but a lot of the time, moving my Belles up into the face of an enemy with decent ranged attacks isn't always the best option.
Belles are durable, but putting Seamus so far behind of his meat wall could be very discouraging.
I'm a rookie though, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

Yeah but with the Treasure hunt Errata its a lot less helpful since just about any of the speedy things you can do causes you to drop the treasure.
Makes them really good at breakthrough though.
