When a steampunk arachnid swarm scatters, do the new arachnids appear in base contact, or up to 6" away? The rules say 'summon 3 arachnids to this model.' Does it just mean 'summon' (i.e. up to 6" away), or does the phrase 'to this model' have some extra significance?

The phrase "to this model" entails that you have to move them as close as possible to where the model would be on the map, before you remove it. I.E. Base-to-base contact.

I play it that the individual spiders are summoned exactly where the swarm was and in base to base contact with each other.

From the errata:


Scatter
Replace “Summon 3 Steampunk Arachnids to this model...” with: "Summon 3 Steampunk Arachnids into base contact with this model…”

Is this true, can this be confirmed? I believe this is also on Levi's and the Waifs as well.

Until the new updated cards are released, assume that "to this model" means "to base contact".

Thank you, I played that part on Levi wrong then. I was using the 6" summoning rules. I'll be sure to get that right from here on out. Just kinda sucks now then once we pops back they are all in base contact . . . better go before Rasputina on the Initiative flip or it's bad news.

on this subject I have a different question. When you split a swarm are the individual spiders each on a 40mm base, do they drop to a 30mm base size or are they baseless?

The ability states that you summon 3 Steampunk Arachnids. Steampunk Arachnids are a named model. As such you bring into play the model as it is defined on the card and or in the book. (It states that the models are on 30mm bases by the way)
