The Cable Guy

Ok, so fun story. I'm getting my cable modem set up yesterday, so I'm waiting around and doing a little painting, since the cable guy is supposed to show up anywhere between 1 and 5.

He finally shows up at about 4:30, and the first thing that strikes me is that he has the EXACT same lisp at Jim Carey in the Cable guy...now I'm still don't know if it was for real, or something he did to entertain himself, but if it was, he stayed in character for the the entire time. I'm a little creeped out by it actually.

Anyway, he's doing his thing and at one point while we're waiting for something to get initialized or something he looks over and notices my paints/minis sitting out. He suddenly gets all excited and picks them up right away and starts looking. Apparently he's a long time Warhammer player. So we talk minis for about 30 minutes, turns out he even knows some of the things I've posted online and is a fan. He gets real excited over the couple demon statues I have, etc, etc... Anyway, I gave him a couple extra Wyrd minis I had laying around which he seemed thrilled with.

Moral of the story is apparently now I have all the movie channels. (mind you, he was just setting up my cable modem, I didn't order any changes to my TV)

I just hope he doesn't turn out like the cable guy... :D

I'm also pretty excited about the fact I keep getting free things by giving away Nathan's stuff ;)

I had DSL!! it was the biggest pile of uselessness. Really slow and unreliable, it sucked!!!

He actually sort of had a Matthew Broderick look to him...but a bit more nerdy...and in a cable guy uniform...and talked with a nasaly lisp...

Turns out he gave up painting to play WOW...which is wierd because that NEVER happens!

kind of like that tv commercial with the two mature ladies trying to get the cable guy to stay longer.... he he :D

Yeah, the cable guy who hooked up the cable at my apartment did nothing but whine and complain about his back the entire time. As to his looks... I'd say he mostly resembled the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer from SNL skits. :(

Luckily for us here you'll have to do everything for yourself. You'll receive a package with the modem and cables and get a CD-ROM and after some tweaking you have DSL (4MBit Down, 1MBit up...yummie!). Worked like a charm.

as Im from the same here had the do-it-yourself package too... eventually it took almost 2 months of *we really dont get the problem* untill someone realised the kpn-link was set up all wrong for my entire flat, not just my house.... yeah, me and kpn go back a long time (up till my first cellphone and a 200 guilders bill from a date AFTER I returned my phone that broke down after a few days O_o)

I have DSL now, and I love it. I have not had any problems with it either. And I find that at times it is too fast for my slow ass. :tongue2:
