New posts or no new posts, that is the question.

Why is it, when I log in, in the upper right hand corner the message sayse there are 6 new posts, and has a link, but when I click on it I get a page that says "sorry, there are no new posts"?

Good question. Not sure. Gimme some details, whether you are logging in or allowing the cookies to keep you automatically logged in, what browser and whether or not their are actually new posts, even if it says their are not.

Also, trying the 'Link' button up top that drops down and mabye do 'mark forums read' after you've done a look around and then come back later to see if you have anything. Might just be a cache showing you have some but their aren't actually any. I've caught that twice now, particularly with PM's (tells me I have them, but I've found that I've read them) and have found its my cache not reloading each time.

For what it is worth, I have the same thing happen from time-to-time. I just assumed that it was caused by posts to a board that I don't have access to.

Actually, that probably is it, as Ritual alluded to, but I never really considered it since I see everything naturally. Yeah, there is a pretty lively 'private' section to the forums that most folks aren't privy too. Maybe I'll create a test account to see if this is the case.
